Deck Name: Kaalia’s Legion of Doom

Format: Legacy
Deck Type: Mechanic-Based Aggro
Deck Theme: Angels–Demons–Dragons Cheat Assault – Kaalia Engine
Colors: Red–White–Black (Mardu)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description

“Kaalia’s Legion of Doom” is a Legacy mechanic-based aggro deck that seizes control of the battlefield through explosive combat deployment. By using Kaalia of the Vast as its primary engine, this deck bypasses traditional casting costs to drop colossal Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly into combat. This overwhelming airborne pressure forces opponents into defensive play long before they can establish a stable board.

This deck excels in both multiplayer and 1v1 Legacy environments, thriving against mid-speed and creature-centric strategies. With disruptive tools (Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek), efficient removal (Swords to Plowshares, Lightning Bolt), and devastating threats (Gisela, Blade of Goldnight; Aurelia, the Warleader; Master of Cruelties), the deck maintains steady momentum until it unleashes massive, game-ending assaults through Kaalia.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Play

Early Game:
Use Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek to eliminate early disruption and clear the path for Kaalia.
Stabilize against pressure with Swords to Plowshares and Lightning Helix.
Develop support pieces such as Lightning Greaves or Fable of the Mirror-Breaker.
Your aim is to create a safe, protected turn for deploying Kaalia.

Mid-Game:
Cast Kaalia only when your hand disruption or removal ensures she can safely attack.
Begin cheating high-impact threats onto the battlefield:
Aurelia grants extra combat steps,
Master of Cruelties threatens instant kills,
Gisela warps damage math dramatically,
Terror of the Peaks converts each cheat into immediate board or life-total pressure,
Angel of Despair removes any problematic permanent.
Maintain tempo and card flow using Kolaghan’s Command and Fable value.

Late Game:
Transition into closing plays with overwhelming board presence.
Hard-cast your larger threats if needed, or recur them with Unearth and Kolaghan’s Command.
Use flying dominance and damage amplification effects to finish opponents before they can recover.
Even without Kaalia, the deck’s threats are powerful enough to secure the endgame.

Ideal Opening Hand:

A strong hand includes:
Two lands with at least one black source
One piece of early interaction (Thoughtseize, Swords to Plowshares)
A support piece (Lightning Greaves, Fable)
A payoff creature or Kaalia

Mulligan hands that lack interaction, mana stability, or a clear path to enabling Kaalia.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How the Mechanic Works

Set Up Support:
Use discard and removal to neutralize the tools opponents rely on to stop Kaalia.
Establish Lightning Greaves or keep mana open for removal to protect the attack step.

Force Opponents Into a Losing Position:
Once Kaalia attacks safely, deploy massive Angels, Demons, or Dragons onto the battlefield without paying mana.
Each cheat creates immediate pressure—whether through damage, board control, or removal effects.

End the Game Decisively:
Leverage combinations such as:
Aurelia + Gisela for overwhelming combat steps,
Master of Cruelties to leave an opponent at zero with Kaalia’s attack,
Terror of the Peaks to convert ETBs into lethal burn.
Most opponents cannot recover once Kaalia connects even once or twice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sideboard Strategy

Against Aggro Decks:
Anger of the Gods: Clears wide boards efficiently.
Collective Brutality: Multi-functional stabilization.
Fatal Push: Cheap removal for early aggression.

Against Control Decks:
Red Elemental Blast: Forces Kaalia through counters.
Duress: Removes sweepers and control tools.
Kolaghan’s Command (main): Provides recursion and attrition value.

Against Combo Decks:
Duress + Collective Brutality: Disrupt setup and protection.
Soul-Guide Lantern: Stops graveyard loops.
Anger or Crux of Fate: Resets creature-combo boards.

Against Artifact/Enchantment Strategies:
Wear // Tear: Efficient targeted removal.
Merciless Eviction: Sweeps problematic permanent types entirely.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
