I heard a mention to a paradoxical outcome deck in the GAM podcast as a thing that might be a thing in the new standard meta. It got my wheels spinning. This deck was close last time, but got bottle necked on mana as all the rocks didn't produce 2 or more. Well Dominaria gives that a facelift! Powerstone Shard, Gilded Lotus, Mox Amber. This deck can be built now. There's also excellent artifact filler, and the immortal sun. You can even use counterspells as bad rituals. You still have the tutors and card draw, and a variety of win cons (although aetherflux resevoir is my favorite with a Walking Ballista fireball plan B). We get to play a mox, and we get to play Karn, probably the most busted cards in standard. If a consistent and powerful storm engine can be developed, then we could have the perfect rogue brew to take to un suspecting PPTQ's and hopefully the invitational.
Interesting angles to explore include a revolt/graveyard recursion plan with scrap trawler modeled after KCI, a Karn/Heart of Kiran/Thraxos/Weatherlight/Metalwork Collosus deck with plan B combo, and the dedicated combo that includes navigator's compass/pendulum of tomorrow/implement of improvement/battle at the bridge to accelerate an aetherflux kill or a cycling suite.
Needs to be compared against approach deck as goldfish standard. Edges should include better alternate game plans and more versatility/inevitability. Aetherflux needs to be essential in the deck, and better than approach as a replacement.
