I have found that ascendant spirit is better than goldspan dragon, especially in the mirror. This mono blue version is similar to mine and eshews red entirely for added bounce spells and alrund's epiphany.

This version is still stuck on frost augur, which I absolutely adore, but when you realize it's bad scaling card draw spell loses it's appeal. It is a much better scrying sheets in a vaccum, but scrying sheets is land, there is no deckbuilding cost or curve consideration outside of snow for running it. Divination performs better than frost augur, and when you realize that it's easy cut of what seemed like a principle card. Even without though ascendant spirit and faceless haven are still that good.

The bounce spells are great in a tempo deck, and the best of way of fighting shark tokens that matter so much in the mirror. Swapping these straight for removal is bold but likely effective most of the time, but your still going to get beat up by decks for not having true answers. Epiphany is a great top end with shark typhoon and ascendant spirit, which are hard to predict anyway for clock speed, and will probably close a game when resolved. This completely expands a tempo window, which I like, but I was really high on disdainful stroke before, and emergent ultimatum has only made it and other counterspells better, so loading up on more high end noncreature spells seems the wrong direction. It's also not doing me any favors against mono white aggro, the new hot contender of standard.
