Notes

I can't say this will win as much as I would hope for a 5-star deck, but it is fun to run through draw tests. I started with a pain-heavy focus on land destruction, but in bringing costs down I learned that I could deliver essentially the same punch at a lower cost if I went for minor combos, and it would grow my creature base in the process. That was the other part, of course: the deck lacked creatures from the initial search. Mole Worms was a first-round pick, of course, but I ended up dropping Mana Skimmer because it had to keep after a land each turn. Other creatures were brought in as basic threats (Fume Spitter, Typhoid Rats, Goblin Arsonist), and others as bigger threats or minor combos (Royal Assassin, Guttersnipe). Given my general speed with decks, I am continuing my practice of using "Refuge" lands. The 12/5/19/0/4 curve averages 2.48, which is hardly cheap, but it does allow me the flexibility to decide how to use mana boosts and different land early to keep up with my needs.
