This was supposed to go with small creatures that could be boosted before trampling over the defenders. There were a couple of expensive cards, but mostly it was about getting a fast start and turning small into large rather than wait for the killer cards that could hit hard on their own (often after their value was reduced by the state of the game). The 15/9/14/0/3 curve gives a nice average cost of 2.20.
